Thankful

Brendan had yet another run in with the pavement outside our place and is once again cut up. But luckily it was nothing serious- just some superficial scrapes on his forehead and nose. He got tripped up by a soccer ball and after a few tears, he was right back to his normal happy self. We're lucky to have such an easy going little guy!

Brendan also final fits in his overalls that Grandma and Grandpa L bought him back when we visited Illinois when he was only 3 months old. I think they may be the cutest thing he owns now. And loved them too- so much in fact that he let me take some pictures of him while he was being still.
I've been especially thankful for our little guy the last few days. My friend and co-worker Bryan and his wife Marcae lost their little girl Kate earlier this week after a long battle with different medical problems. She was such a sweet and strong little girl with amazing parents. We attended the funeral today and I was really touched by the Spirit there. I have definitely been more grateful for my wonderful family and a sweet, healthy little boy. Especially one who looks so adorable in his engineer overalls.

The two sides of Brendan

This picture makes me feel like Brendan is so grown up. Very independent and always on the go.

But luckily we still have moments like these to make me feel like he's still my little baby.

Also, keep an eye out for an Easter post from Chris. He's a little busy finishing up his thesis this week and interviewing all over the valley, so it may be a few days. But it's coming, I promise- with lots of pictures too. We had a great time with some of Chris' family and Brendan loved every minute of it! So stay tuned!

I couldn't get one good picture

Brendan was so hyped up the night I was trying to get a picture of him dancing on his box that it was pretty much impossible. But I thought they turned out pretty funny so I thought I'd share. Enjoy!

I made it through day 1

I've decided that I am officially a Coca-Colaholic and I'm hoping that by announcing my addiction to the blogging world, I'll be supported in my decision. I finally have gotten tired of myself complaining about losing the last bit of my baby weight and I had an epiphany that my 2-3 Coke's everyday can't be helping me. :) So I'm jumping off the band wagon cold turkey and I've made it through one day so far. The first day wasn't so bad but we'll see how the next couple go. I've been told that the first three days are the hardest. I think the hardest for me will be any time I'm at work since Coke really helps me to get through my job. But I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that this time I'll stick to it! Wish me luck!

A Race and an Addition

The Rex Lee Run was on Saturday and since my work was paying for any employee and their spouse to run if they wanted, I though why not? Quite a few people I knew would be walking it so I thought I'd join them and make it a family affair. Brendan loves walks, what could go wrong? Well, let's just say that this wasn't a good idea. Brendan didn't even make it a half mile before Chris had to head back with him. First, it was freezing. Poor Brendan just wasn't happy and his teeth were chattering so badly. It broke my heart. Second, my work though we should all gather together about an hour before the race so we could take pictures and make sure that everyone got registered okay. Well, Brendan was not happy with that. He hates being in his stroller if it's not moving, so standing around for 45 minutes was all he could stand. By the time the race started, he was freezing and extremely upset. So while Chris took him back to the car to warm up, I walked the race alone. I thought about running it for about 2 seconds until I realized that I haven't ran since before I was pregnant, so starting my running routine with a 5K was not going to happen. At least I did it though and it was for a good cause. And at least we didn't pay for it. And we got free t-shirts.

We did warm Brendan back up with a nice hot bath that cheered him up immensely.
And meet the newest addition to our family. A brand new TV. We decided to spoil ourselves a little with our tax return. Don't worry- we saved the rest of it. We're not foolish enough to blow all of it. Chris made sure to find us some good deals and saved us a chunk of cash. So now we're enjoying watching TV in a whole new way. First the quality is enormously better. Wow. Second, we can actually see the entire screen. Our old TV wasn't formatted right or something since about an inch or so of the program would be cut off on the sides and bottom. It was incredibly annoying. Having the new TV definitely made up for my horrible race experience. Thanks to Chris for getting it! Also a big thanks to Jandon and Angela for letting us use their Jeep to haul our new TV stand (isn't it cute!? We got a good deal on it from Craig's List! I love the Internet). We couldn't have done it without Jandon's manual labor assisting Chris. Really. So now I'm resting my poor legs and complaining a lot about my shins hurting while watching our new TV! Here's a happy photo to end this post:
Brendan loves to climb up on this foot stool and watch all the exciting action at the gas station across the street. He jabbers away and occasionally says bye-bye to the cars going by and waves to them. He's so sweet. He has recently re-discovered his love of waving to everyone and anyone/thing. He'll often wave at inanimate objects. He's just got so much love!

The Office

Brendan loves to be in our office- even if no one else is in there. There are all sorts of fun things for him to "play" with: the computer (of which he managed to somehow disable our CD drive), Chris' bass guitar, my craft boxes, and numerous cords to chew on. We do try to keep him out, especially if one of us needs to be on the computer, but he bangs on the door and cries so loud we always break down and let him in.

One day when I got home from work, Chris told me that Brendan had gotten into a place he's never been before, which really scared me. had horrible pictures of the toilet or garbage can running through my head. Turns out it was just our bookshelf in the office. He managed to climb in and squeeze his little body on the shelf. I'd much rather have him play on the bookshelf. It's much cleaner.

He's getting very good at typing and manages to pull up windows and screens that I have no idea how to do without a mouse. It really is amazing. The computer was in process of shutting down one evening but Brendan got to it before it finished, somehow got it back to the start up screen and logged in as a new user. We seriously don't know how he did it.

Sleeping like a baby

This may be one of the cutest scenes in the world: Brendan snuggled up with his teddy bear during a nap. I couldn't resist snapping a picture of it to share.

I felt a little bad for waking him up but since it was almost time for him to get up anyways, it didn't last long.

I'm a little sad

Brendan got a hair cut. Doesn't he look handsome?! Chris kept pressuring me to give him a bowl cut or a mullet but I think this looks better.

I must admit that it makes me a little sad though. He doesn't look like my little baby with his new 'do. Cutting off a couple inches somehow made him look more like a little boy, which breaks my heart! Here's the before:
This was taken after church, right before we chopped of his cute hair. The tie was Chris' choice and it conveniently covered up the juice stains on his nice white shirt.

His hair was getting a little long and I do like the new short hair but it's so strange to see my little boy look so grown p! It was very difficult to get him to sit still and the tears were flowing strong by the end of it. Next time, I think we'll take Brendan to get his hair cut by someone trained to do so. It'll be worth it.
