A spooky night out

We took Brendan out to trick-or-treat tonight and had some fantastic results (although Chris was disappointed in the candy selection for the up-scale neighborhood we went to). We were a little nervous about how Brendan would react to being in his robot costume since earlier in the week when we tried it on him, he FREAKED out- crying and screaming until we took it off. This time luckily he did much better!

Brendan was super excited to be out with the other kids and loved waving to everyone. He really loved getting the piece of candy and putting it in his bucket. As soon as the door would open, he would hold out his hand waiting for the candy.

He was well-behaved and happy... what more could we ask for? He did try to walk into a couple of the homes at first but once he got the hang of it, Brendan become a trick-or-treating pro. My little robot made his mama proud!

In case you care

If you care, these are the current favorite videos Brendan and I are watching on YouTube lately.

I love this song. I seriously know all the words now and Brendan rocks out to it. It's just so catchy.

I think I could watch this one over and over. In fact, we do. Brendan is now obsessed with watching things on the computer. He is constantly grabbing our hands trying to pull us to the computer room. And he likes the volume turned up. He is definitely his father's son.

The best bed head ever!

I laughed so hard when Brendan got up from his nap on Wednesday and this is why. He had a fun-filled afternoon playing at a McDonald's playplace with his cousins and visiting with Carrie, Erin and John. He was wiped out when we got home. I don't know what he was doing while he slept, but his hair was sticking up in every direction possible. We had to take pictures of it despite Brendan being a little cranky from just waking up.

We put on a PBS Curious George episode (his most favorite show ever) to cheer him up. It worked eventually, as it always does.

I love that little sad face but it was hard not to laugh at him with that hair.

Handsome but angry

I stopped Brendan on our way out the door to church today to take a couple pictures. He looked so handsome this morning and I kind of spiked his hair, so I wanted some pics of it. Well, he was not happy about that at all. He was excited to be going outside (even though it was just to walk to the car) and he was angry that I stopped him. So the pictures capture his handsomeness and his crankiness.
He kept looking to Chris for some help but his poor dad was just chuckling at him. How rude! Even though he was upset, I still think Brendan is the cutest little boy around.

I love Converse

I'm usually not a big fan of fall, but so far I have been enjoying the cool crisp air. Brendan and I have been trying to think of creative ways to beat cabin fever though and on Friday, we ended up at the mall... and these sweet little kicks came home with us. Brendan seems to like them almost as much as I do.I've also had a fun time making pumpkin muffins and beef stew to last us through the chilly weekend. They are calling for snow tonight. SNOW! I am so not ready for that yet and poor Brendan doesn't even have a winter coat yet. I think that calls for another trip to the mall.

This one is for Angela

Today is a chilly day, which means that Brendan got to wear his gift from Angela for the first time! I LOVE this shirt and it was probably one of the best gifts that we got at my baby shower. I'm so glad that Brendan can wear it now and he just may never take it off. Now, he and Chris can officially start their band together. Thanks, Angela!!!!

And don't you just love that face? That's Brendan's "say cheese" face. So funny.

Why do weekends go by so quickly?

This weekend my parents were here visiting and we had such a fun time with them. Brendan was so excited to have so many people here to lavish attention on him. He liked having a constant playmate (his cousin, Mary) and is usually not used to so much activity going on in our small apartment. He did get over-excited sometimes and would act out, which meant a few visits to time-out but luckily he doesn't mind it too much. But maybe that means it's not as effective as I think. Oh well. Mom and Dad, come anytime you guys want. But hopefully next time, we have a real house for you to come and stay at.

The weekend was full of playing, trying to enjoy the Conference talks over the kids' playing, eating and more playing. Chris and I even got in some house hunting. It was rainy when we went out and our Realtor got a flat tire on the way to the first house, so Chris was kind enough to get out in the rain and change her tire. It was quite the adventure but we're slowly finding some options that will work for our family. It's exciting to be moving forward. Hopefully next time, there's no flat tire involved.
